Video: Images Imagined

This short video brings together the best of my AI images most of which appear in the ImageTrek galleries.

There are many photographers who strongly object to AI imagery because it imitates conventional photography. Without human creativity, they complain, AI images lack soul.

AI images are based on the original work of photographers that exists online, we are warned. This is nothing other than blatant plagiarism by the backdoor! An AI image that resembles a photograph is next to worthless because it hasn't been composed and captured through a physical lens. AI imagery is offensive to those who have invested a lot of time and money in their hobby or profession (as I have done over the last 50 years).

Objections like these aren't unlike other complaints aimed at modern image-editing software that can significantly transform images that have been projected through a lens onto an image sensor or film. The final image may be significantly different to the original. To an extent, don't we draw our lines to suit our perceptions and preferences?

This video was my first compilation of AI images. Most of them certainly did involve creative manipulation. Lots of it. You can read about this here on my website in another post. Make of them what you will. If anyone watches this—thank you so much. I appreciate it.
