A 'Trek' with the Fujifilm X-T3 and Godox iT30Pro

Recovering from a muscular injury meant that a routine uphill walk to my local landmark felt more like one of my more serious treks through the mountains. But I enjoyed the experience anyway. If possible we need to get out regularly and feel the fresh air about us. Mind and body benefit from consistent exercise, so if you’re able please don’t neglect it, indoors or out.

Once again I had with me the Fujifilm X-T3, Viltrox AF 9mm F2.8 Air lens, and a Godox flash unit. This small flash is surprisingly powerful (GN15), so it can make quite a difference when shooting in daylight or low light. It won’t spread light as well as larger units, but I'm not too bothered about that. You can see the manufacturers’ images farther down the page.

Typically, using flash all the time isn't the done thing, and rightly so. But it's a maxim I’ve been ignoring lately just for the heck of it—I get a creative buzz. I attach the Godox to its TTL hot shoe "riser", double-check that TTL High-speed sync is dialled in, and then just forget it’s there. In this casual handheld context I'm usually pleased with the results I get.

Here are a few of the images I captured for a relative on a lovely spring morning at dawn.
