Rather than relying on streaming services, I use an app on a smartphone to listen to my entire music and book collection. I’ve been using Poweramp (Android only) for a long time. It’s the best audio player I’ve found.

Recently I invested in a new mid-range smartphone with 256GB of storage to use exclusively as an audio player. This should last me many years, if I do!

All my MP3, M4A and WAV files (50+GB to date) have been copied into the phone’s internal storage. These files include a lot of music tracks imported from CD using Acon Digital’s Acoustica software. I use Bluetooth to listen on all my devices including my old Yamaha MusicCast RN402D amp. No matter where I am, indoors or out, I can take my music and books with me.

You can see below further screenshots of Poweramp’s excellent UI.
