Decades ago I went to a local air show – so local I walked to it. Frugal days that they were, I ran off one roll of Kodak Gold 400 in my EOS 500, a plasticky camera first released by Canon in 1993 (see image below).
Judging by the scanned frames I can tell I had two zoom lenses with me: the very basic EF 35-80mm and the EF 70-210mm f3.5-4.5 USM. I really liked the 70-210mm and used it often. It was first produced in 1990. I just recently sold it.
The highlight of the day was most definitely the Harrier Jump Jet. It made a sound like the end of the world. Parents were advised to cover their children’s ears, which gave me the chance to squat down low and run off a few shots of the man and child who were directly in front of me.
